Thoughtful writing and the art of paying attention.

How I Return to Simple

When things become too complicated,

I don’t try to fix everything.

I go back.

I notice it first

It usually shows up as friction.

Things feel heavier.

Slower.

Less clear.

That is enough to see it.

I stop adding

The first step is simple.

I don’t add anything else.

No new ideas.

No extra steps.

No changes.

I remove what I added

Then I look at what I introduced.

What is not necessary.

What was not there before.

I remove that.

I go back to what worked

There is usually a point where things were still simple.

I return to that.

Not to improve it.

Just to continue from there.

I don’t try to optimize

I don’t try to make it better again.

That is often what made it complicated in the first place.

I continue

Once it is simple again,

I keep going.

That is enough.

This happens repeatedly

It is not something I solve once.

It comes back.

I just return faster

That is the only difference.
