Thoughtful writing and the art of paying attention.

Appreciating Growth

Lately, I’ve found myself paying more attention to growth.

Much of that has come from tending our garden.

The pumpkins are slowly maturing and should be ready in the fall.

The coriander keeps growing abundantly in our raised beds.

Our green bell pepper plant continues to produce new peppers.

Even the zucchini surprised me.

The first zucchini seemed to stop growing and eventually died before it was ready.

I thought that might be the end of it.

Instead, the plant grew bigger, produced more leaves, and now two new zucchinis are growing.

Hopefully they’ll reach maturity.

I can already imagine making a zucchini carbonara with one of them.

It’s funny how a small garden changes the way you look at things.

You stop looking only at what you can harvest today.

You begin noticing everything that is quietly growing.
