I have been thinking about deleting my YouTube watch history.
At first, it seemed useful to keep it.
I could see what I had watched before.
Continue videos I never finished.
Avoid watching the same thing twice.
But lately, I have started questioning that.
Over time, I noticed YouTube showing me more and more videos I had already watched.
Sometimes videos from months ago.
Sometimes videos from years ago.
I assume the algorithm thinks I might want to watch them again.
Perhaps many people do.
But I noticed that I do not.
When I open YouTube, I am not looking for nostalgia.
I am looking for something new.
Something I have not seen before.
Something that sparks curiosity.
The funny thing is that this realization made me think about how I experience the world outside YouTube.
I revisit the same places all the time.
The same mountains.
The same rivers.
The same trails.
Yet they never feel the same.
The seasons change.
The weather changes.
And I change too.
Reality keeps offering something new.
Algorithms often do the opposite.
They keep offering what already worked before.
Perhaps that is why I am tempted to clear my watch history.
Not because I want to forget the past.
But because I enjoy seeing things with fresh eyes.
