After heading out to film some scenic drone shots of Mount Kinka and Gifu Castle, I honestly had no idea what kind of video I would end up making.
To my surprise, the short video I eventually published was warmly received by my existing audience.
Fellow drone enthusiasts.
Drone hobbyists.
Other YouTubers.
Not many people.
Just a few.
But somehow, their comments meant more to me than any views or likes the video did not receive.
Ironically, I secretly hoped the video would attract more attention from people interested in Japan as well.
Because honestly, I thought the video turned out really well.
And that brings me back to something I have mentioned in previous blog posts.
The videos I carefully spend a long time editing.
The ones I personally think will do well.
Often do not.
At least not in the way I expect.
By “doing well,” I mean reaching new viewers who genuinely comment, subscribe, or connect with the video.
Strangely enough, the opposite often happens.
The videos I casually put together with less effort sometimes attract more engagement and new viewers.
How ironic.
The video I published yesterday felt polished and professionally put together to me.
Even one of my fellow YouTubers mentioned that.
But perhaps that is simply how creators see things.
We notice details most viewers never consciously pay attention to.
Anyway, I will let you be the judge.
Here is the video.
