Different Eyes

Different Eyes

There are fewer new places I visit nowadays.

Instead, I revisit many places close to home.

The Nakasendo Trail.

Mount Kinka.

Takayama.

Gujo Hachiman.

Interestingly, I have visited these places many times before.

Yet each visit feels different.

The weather changes.

The season changes.

The people accompanying me change.

And sometimes, I change too.

So it never truly feels the same.

Even in places I already know well, I still discover something new.

I notice details I had not paid attention to before.

Lately, I have started to realize something.

It is not really the place that keeps changing.

It is my perspective.

The same places.

Seen through different eyes each time.
