When Did This Become Normal

I didn’t notice when it happened.

At first, it was just something my wife did.

Making coffee in the morning.

Trying different machines and techniques.

Nespresso with capsules.

Expensive.

Too much waste.

Then drip coffee.

Waiting for the water to boil.

Slowly dripping through a paper filter.

More waste.

And not always consistent.

Different ways of brewing.

I tried it.

Didn’t really like it.

But I drank coffee anyway.

One cup.

Then another.

Nothing deliberate.

Over time, it became a habit.

Something that happens without thinking.

Now I drink coffee every day.

I can’t really imagine not having it.

Even buying a more expensive machine.

Something I would have never considered before.

I’m not fussy about coffee.

But I am fussy about Swiss-style coffee.

Café crème.

So the Jura E8 made sense.

Fully automatic.

No adjusting grind settings.

No tamping.

Just a button.

And that’s it.

Café crème.

Consistent.

Precise.

No drama.

Very Swiss.
