I Didn’t End Up Where I Thought

When I started flying FPV, I had a clear idea in mind.

I wanted to learn it step by step.

First the simulator.

Then a small drone.

Then move up to something bigger.

That’s how it started

Back in October 2024, I began with the simulator.

LiftOff.

I learned the basics there.

Then I moved to the DJI Neo

At first inside an old factory near our home.

Then outside in the park.

The plan was simple

Practice.

Get better.

Then move on to the Avata 2.

I got the Avata 2 in February 2025

But I didn’t really use it.

Not much confidence yet.

The spaces I was flying in felt too small.

So I kept flying the Neo

Battery after battery.

Getting used to it.

Then something changed

The repair service for the Neo ran out.

I didn’t have that safety anymore and I didn’t want to buy a new Neo.

So I had no choice

I started flying the Avata 2.

That pushed me out

Out of the small park.

Into bigger areas.

And that’s where things shifted

The flights became longer.

More open.

Less about control.

More about movement.

At some point I stopped thinking about progression

I wasn’t trying to improve step by step anymore.

I was just flying

Exploring places.

Seeing what was there.

And without noticing

That became the focus

Not FPV

Not the drone

But the places

The mountains

The rivers

The space

I didn’t plan that

I thought I would focus on getting better at flying

But it became something else

Looking back now

I didn’t end up where I thought

But I kept going

And this is where it led me
