Just returned from Costco after picking up something bubbly to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Luckily, we snagged a reasonably priced bottle of Cremant de Loire and can’t wait to taste it. A few years ago, my wife and I visited a Cremant factory in Luxembourg and discovered it tastes remarkably similar to Champagne, if not better.
While exploring Costco, my wife directed me to a large, yet simple and effective board. It’s these convenient touches that consistently impress me, even in a Costco that’s distinctly American.
Unfortunately, Swiss cheeses and Swiss brioche were unavailable, so we opted for bagels and American cheeses at reasonable prices and quantities.
We chose Monterey Jack and Colby Jack, both new to my palate. Surprisingly, they tasted like a mix of Cheddar and mild Gouda, not bad at all.
Though enjoyable, I still have a preference for Emmentaler, Gruyรจre, Appenzeller, and Tรชte de Moine cheeses.
