The Magic of Combining FPV Flying and 360ΒΊ Video

Lately, I’ve been shifting from flying FPV to exploring cinematic aerial videography.

Why?

Because I had this idea of filming with a 360ΒΊ cameraβ€”specifically, the DJI Osmo 360β€”from the same brand I use for my drones and other gear.

It all works like a charm because the technology and user interface are the same. It’s like working within one ecosystemβ€”like using an iPhone with a MacBook Air. Everything connects seamlessly without too much hassle.

But this isn’t really about brand convenience.

It’s about learning and stacking different creative skillsβ€”each one complementing the otherβ€”to produce something new and valuable.

FPV flying is pure fun for me. But I’ve realized that most YouTube viewers aren’t really watching for how many tricks I can pull off in three minutes. They’re drawn to excitement, beauty, and storytellingβ€”things like breathtaking landscapes and travel experiences. That’s where cinematic aerial videography comes in.

And lately, I’ve discovered something else viewers love: 360ΒΊ video. It lets them sit in the pilot’s seatβ€”from the comfort of their living room or wherever they are.

Maybe a demonstration will explain it better. Here’s my latest 360ΒΊ video from when I flew my FPV drone with a 360ΒΊ camera mounted on it at the summit of Mount Dodogamine in Gifu.
