Becoming More Bear-Aware

While Iโ€™m out on my trail adventures, Iโ€™m always aware that bears and boars could be around.

So far, I havenโ€™t had any encounters with either โ€” and because of that, it still doesnโ€™t feel real that I ever might.

But after seeing the recent news about a Spanish man being attacked by a bear in Shirakawago, Iโ€™ve started to think about it a bit more seriously.

A few weeks ago, I tried bear meat for the first time. Now I just hope the bears wonโ€™t take revenge on me while Iโ€™m out exploring the trails.

I always carry my bear bell, but maybe itโ€™s time to get some bear spray too โ€” just to be safe.
