My journey of decluttering and cutting the noise out of my life continues.
A few months ago, I already deleted my Instagram account. It simply didnโt fit my vision of what my personal internet presence should be anymore. Now, Iโve gone a step furtherโIโve decided to delete my Facebook account too. On 1 September 2025, it will be gone for good.
Why? Because it served no real purpose in my life.
Facebook Wasnโt Friendship
Facebook was full of โfriendsโ who were not really friends. We never engaged in real conversations. It was no more than a superficial address book, cluttered with names of people I hardly knew. At some point, I had to admit to myself: it wasnโt about connection, it was about keeping up appearances.
Owning My Space Online
When I started writing this daily blog on my own website, everything shifted. Here, I set the tone. Here, readers who truly want to hear my voice come by choice. If theyโre not interested, they donโt need to โunfriendโ meโthey simply unsubscribe. That feels so much more natural and honest.
The same goes for my YouTube channel, Karl FPV Drone Adventures in Japan. There, I connect only with fellow drone enthusiasts and hobbyists. People who care about this craft. People who want to learn, share, and grow together. Thatโs a space where engagement feels real.
Why Iโm Letting Go of the Old Platforms
Facebook and Instagram? Theyโve become endless scroll machines, feeding us uninvited news, ads, and noise. They turn attention into a commodity and numb the mind into passive consumption. Thatโs not what I want for my life.
Instead, Iโd rather double down on platforms that matter to meโWordPress.com and YouTubeโwhere I can share, interact, and create with people who genuinely care.
A Final Thought
Deleting Facebook isnโt just about removing an app. Itโs about reclaiming my attention, my energy, and my voice. I donโt need a platform filled with vague connections and shallow interactions. Iโd rather write, create, and connect with people who meet me where I amโby choice.
So on 1 September 2025, Iโll say goodbye to Facebook once and for all.
I choose presence over noise.
