This is what it looks like when your drone decides to take a swim right before coming backโclassic move, right?
Apparently, I have a hidden talent for crash landing the Neo in rivers and lakes. Not that I do it on purposeโwho wouldnโt want their drone to go for an unexpected dip? Itโs practically becoming my specialty!
The picture you see was captured from my Goggles’ recordingโliterally the last glorious view I had before the Neo decided to audition for a role in “Finding Nemo.”
I embarked on a rescue mission with my trusty sidekick, the Dji Avata 2, but alas, my search was in vain. While the Avata hovered around the crash site like a concerned parent, I couldn’t spot the Neo. It was as if it was playing hide and seek in the muddy depths.

To add to the drama, it had been pouring rain before I launched the Neo at my local practice spot. The river was in full dramatic mode, with stronger currents and muddy waterโoh joy! Who doesn’t love a good challenge, right?
Iโm gearing up for another rescue mission tomorrow with the Avata, hoping that the river mud will have the decency to settle down a bit. Fingers crossed I can find my beloved droneโbecause who doesnโt want to retrieve a waterlogged flying robot?
Wish me luckโit’s just another day in the life of a drone enthusiast!
Here’s the published video of my last flight with the Neo, which unfortunately drowned right in front of me before it could return.
