Returning to Japan: New Adventures Await

Tomorrow, I’ll be heading back home to the land of the rising sun, where a world of new adventures and challenges awaits me.

I’m particularly excited about this trip because my mother will be joining me in Japan a few days later, making her long-held dream of experiencing Japan for the very first time come true.

As I touch down in Japan tomorrow, Iโ€™m hoping to manage the jet lag well, as I need to prepare for my mom’s arrival and ensure she feels comfortable settling in. I can’t wait to show her how I embrace the Japanese way of life and introduce her to the stunning gems of Gifu Prefecture and beyond during her 17-day stay with us.

While I created memorable experiences with my wife in Switzerland over the last 15 days, I am eager to create also many unforgettable moments in Japan with my mother during the next 17 days.

Autumn is a particularly beautiful time to be in Japan, and Iโ€™m looking forward to making lasting memories together.

Looks like you had a spectacular “grand tour” of Switzerland, though I was wondering how on earth you were able to fit in time to write daily blog posts (given that I can’t really keep up reading them…).
And how lovely that your mother will be joining you in Japan in just a few days, for her own adventure a a first-time traveller to this beautiful country. Yes, autumn season is particularly beautiful, and I hope you will create some unforgettable memories together!
    Have a safe journey back!

Believe it or not, Rolf, my daily posts from Switzerland were actually late each day. However, thanks to my decision to write short stories and the many impressions I gathered during the trip, it didnโ€™t take long to come up with something to share. Each post took me no more than 15 minutes to write. Traveling really does provide endless inspiration.

This blog is for thoughtful adults who are starting again โ€” in learning, creativity, or life โ€” and want to grow steadily without noise or pressure.

Here youโ€™ll find daily reflections and practical guides shaped by lived experience. The focus is on learning through doing: building consistency, adapting to change, and finding clarity in everyday practice.

The stories and guides here come from real processes โ€” creative experiments, hands-on projects, life in rural Japan, working with nature, and learning new skills step by step. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is polished for performance. The aim is steady progress, honest reflection, and practical insight you can actually use.

If youโ€™re curious about life in Japan, learning new skills at your own pace, or finding a calmer, more intentional way forward, youโ€™re in the right place.
