Travel Diary: Views from Lausanne to Gruyères

This morning, when we arrived in Lausanne-Ouchy, we had no idea what awaited us there.

As we drove from Suhr towards Lausanne, we encountered mist, rain, and wind. However, upon arrival in Lausanne-Ouchy, we were absolutely flabbergasted by the stunning view that greeted us.

We took a moment to enjoy the serene vistas from the port before heading across to Évian-les-Bains for a brief visit to the French side of Lake Geneva. To be honest, we were a bit disappointed in Évian-les-Bains, as we expected more from the town known for its famous mineral water.

As we boarded the next boat back to Lausanne-Ouchy, we relished the majestic views of the mountains surrounding Lake Geneva.

Surprisingly, the real highlight of the day wasn’t Lake Geneva at all. On our way back to Suhr, we decided to visit the town of Gruyères, famous for its cheese. Hiromi was so taken by the landscapes that she kept saying it resembled the land of Heidi, which made me chuckle. Yet, I began to understand her perspective. Since I had never visited Gruyères before, today’s experience left such a lasting impression that I could appreciate her vision of Heidi’s land.
