Swiss Adventures: Nostalgia and New Discoveries

In mid-September, my spouse and I are embarking on a trip to Switzerland. This journey holds a special significance for me as we plan to reconnect with my relatives and explore the breathtaking sights my spouse has been eagerly raving about.

It’s surreal to fly to Switzerland from Japan, considering that not long ago I lived in the Netherlands and hardly visited my home country. But being on the other side of the globe has reignited my desire to reconnect with my roots, share childhood memories with my spouse, and revisit cherished places from my time with my family.

Our itinerary includes famous destinations in Switzerland such as Oeschinensee, Jungfraujoch, and Lauterbrunnen. I’ve also planned time to enjoy the charms of Ticino, specifically Lugano, Melide, and Morcote. These places are dear to me, each woven with cherished memories from my childhood.

It’s a departure from my usual routine of writing exclusively about Japan, but Iโ€™m excited to announce that during our Swiss adventure, I’ll be sharing captivating stories from this enchanting country. Stay tuned for captivating tales from Switzerland in mid-September.

Look at my old photo. Can you tell where I was in Switzerland?

It’s interesting (but probably not really surprising) that while you could easily have gone to Switzerland for a weekend break while living in the Netherlands, you didn’t. But now that you live a 15-hour flight away, you suddenly feel the urge to visit Switzerland… I can relate to that feeling.
So many childhood memories in Melide and Morcote for me as well. Never been back since then. And although I spent 27 years of my life in Switzerland, I’ve never once been to the Jungfraujoch… I guess I will have to put it on my list for a future visit…
    Hope you’ll enjoy the trip!

Thanks, Rolf! I hope you get the chance to visit Jungfraujoch in the futureโ€”it’s truly worth it. I’ll be sure to share something in September to inspire you even more.
