Home Hedge Trimming: Update

Last year in May, I trimmed our home’s hedge for the first time. I was curious to see how it would grow this year. Here’s a picture taken on August 4th this year. In my previous post, you can see how it looked after my first trim and also before my first trim.

Honestly, when I took that photo on last August 4th, it seemed like so much had grown back. But on closer inspection, I can see that there is still much more growth needed for it to look the same as last year in May. Perhaps I was a bit aggressive in trimming the hedge, as it doesn’t look as dense and bushy as it did last year. One plant that did come back aggressively on the bottom of the hedge was the white striped dwarf bamboo, which I now consider a weed in our garden. But apart from that, I don’t think it looks ugly, and it sort of decorates the stones a bit. The hedge top, however, has clearly not grown back to how it was last year in May before my first trim. I will provide an update after the growth season has ended.
