After days of immersing myself in content creation tutorials on Youtube and Skillshare, I find myself still in the planning stages for my weekly content.
Admittedly, my video editing skills, especially filming a-roll and b-roll, are not my strongest suit. This became evident as I reviewed and edited the three-part fishing adventure videos. However, I remind myself that I was working solo, without a dedicated camera and audio team. It’s a learning process, and I shouldn’t be too hard on myself.
Moving forward, I am determined to improve my skills in shooting a-roll and b-roll. I aspire to approach it with more deliberate planning, reducing the need for improvisation, as was the case with the fishing experience video.
Authenticity is paramount to me. While I initially considered scripting my videos, I realized that this might compromise the genuineness I want to convey. Therefore, I’ve decided to present my weekly videos in a more personal, unscripted style.
Contemplating the content of my videos, I believe they should not exceed 5 minutes and should revolve around aspects of my life in Japan. Since my relocation, Japan has significantly shaped my experiences, and I aim to share insights into typical local and mundane aspects of the country.
It’s essential to me that my videos depict the reality of life in Japan, steering away from the overly glamorized portrayal often seen online. I aim to showcase the challenges of the hot and humid Japanese summer, as well as how I handle the persistent mosquito nuisance. There’s a wealth of unique content I’ve observed to be absent from Youtube, and I’m eager to fill that gap by sharing fresh perspectives.
Stay tuned for my weekly videos. They may not exude commercial polish, but that’s precisely the authentic journey I seek to embark on, offering a genuine portrayal of life in Japan.
