I am currently confined to the home office with closed curtains and windows due to the scorching temperatures in Gifu, Japan. Despite the discomfort, it’s necessary for my well-being. The heat is so extreme that even the mosquitoes seem unable to endure it.
Chappie, my mother-in-law’s beagle, is staying indoors with me as it’s too hot for long walks. I briefly let him out in the garden for his toilet break, but he quickly returns to the cool interior.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius today and in the coming days, so it’s crucial to avoid going outside during the hottest hours of the day.
July temperatures in Japan are significantly higher than usual, signaling an unusually hot and humid summer. Gifu, in particular, is experiencing temperatures well above the norm, with the humidity intensifying the sensation of heat. This is especially notable as July is typically the most humid month in many regions, including Gifu.
