The tale of Chappie, my mother-in-law’s dear little beagle puppy, is a heartwarming reflection of the strong bond between them. Each weekday, she brings Chappie to my home as she tends to her daily tasks or heads to the gym, granting him the company and care he adores. While he is initially distressed at being left in my care, our daily routine has evolved into a touching story of companionship and personal growth for Chappie.

During my brunch, Chappie howls and tries to run back home with my mother-in-law, unable to contain his longing for her. However, our walks have become a transformative experience. Initially resistant to leaving the familiar boundaries of our neighborhood, Chappie now eagerly explores the joys of distant places, indulging in his love for mulberries and reveling in the natural beauty around the Kiso river.

Returning home from these adventurous expeditions, Chappie’s exhaustion is matched only by his growing familiarity with our daily routes. His increased confidence and affectionate demeanor manifest a profound emotional journey that has become an integral part of our routine.

Today, as my mother-in-law arrived to take Chappie back home, his reaction surprised us both. With a newfound attachment to his daily adventures with me, Chappie’s story has beautifully transformed into a deeply emotional and unforgettable bond.
