In Japan, June marks a transition from spring to the early glow of summer. With the impending arrival of the rainy season, or tsuyu, the country begins its enchanting metamorphosis. As nature awakens, June also heralds the peak blooming period for hydrangeas, adorning gardens, parks, and temples with their captivating beauty. While not as flamboyant as cherry blossoms, these delightful blooms evoke their own unique charm, offering a serene spectacle to be cherished. I am eagerly preparing to immortalize this natural display through video and photos in the upcoming weeks.
Beyond the allure of hydrangeas, the prospect of witnessing fireflies in their mesmerizing dance is a cherished anticipation. Last year, my humble attempt to capture their ephemeral glow with an iPhone 11 left much to be desired. However, armed with the impressive low-light capabilities of the newly acquired DJI Pocket 3 camera, I am set to embark on a renewed endeavor. With optimism and a hint of anticipation, I am eagerly preparing to capture the enchanting dance of fireflies, aiming for an experience that transcends the limitations of the past.
Here is last year’s attempt to capture fireflies on my iPhone 11. Not much to see ๐
