Last weekend, my wife and I embarked on a scenic drive to Tsukechi Gorge and Takadaru Falls, breathtaking natural wonders located less than two hours away by car from our doorstep in Gifu Prefecture. We’ve been drawn to the abundance of picturesque rivers and waterfalls in the area, each one more spectacular than the last. As we immersed ourselves in the cedar-scented forests and listened to the soothing rush of waterfalls and rivers, we couldn’t help but marvel at the crystal clear waters flowing over whitewashed stones, creating nature’s own masterpiece.

The emerald green hues of the rivers here in Japan occasionally transport me back to my old home in Switzerland, evoking the same sense of awe and beauty.
