I am setting the bar of my expectations low – and it’s a deliberate choice.
Why, you might wonder? Let me explain.
The last three years have been nothing short of transformative. It all began with being fired on April 1st, 2021. That unexpected event jolted me into a new way of thinking and acting.
I had to shed all that was holding me back from pursuing my path to financial freedom. And last October, I achieved that very goal – I am financially free.
My life has been revolutionized. I’ve broken free from the repetitive cycle of “eating, sleeping, working, and a little relaxation.” Now, I find myself immersed in new hobbies and activities, with the freedom to spend my time as I choose. While I do face the occasional challenge, such as managing my assets and cash flow, I also have the opportunity to set both short-term and long-term goals.
But here’s the twist: I am intentionally setting my expectations low, even as I pursue seemingly unattainable heights.
It’s a Jedi mind trick, you might say.
By setting smaller, achievable sub-goals, I’ve discovered that I can outsmart my own subconscious. Rather than overwhelming myself with lofty ambitions that my mind struggles to accept, I focus on these bite-sized steps. It’s like climbing a mountain one step at a time, allowing myself to pause, catch my breath, and move forward at my own pace.
Does this approach make sense to you?
My journey has taught me the power of simplicity and gradual progress. If you’re striving for your own transformation, remember that every small step counts. Embrace the process, and before you know it, you’ll have scaled your own mountains. Big goals have never been achieved overnight. It was the result of small daily actions compounding over time to reach my goals in small steps. Sometimes these steps seemed so far away from my goals, I wondered at times what I was doing was actually a step towards my goals.
