After our fishing adventure last week in the great outdoors of Gifu, my wife and I headed to the fishing store today to gear up for future expeditions.

While fishing is still new to us, we’ve gleaned a rough idea of what essentials we need for our private angling escapades. Thankfully, the store staff provided invaluable assistance and guidance on our shopping list.

It’s not just about rods, hooks, and bait; there’s a whole lot more to consider.

We picked up a fishing net for safely transferring our catches into a bucket. Opting for a foldable bucket was a no-brainer โ€“ lightweight and compact, perfect for easy transport.

Admittedly, the fishing attire โ€“ pants and boots โ€“ may elicit a chuckle. The pair we purchased were a far cry from the waterproof ninja boots and knee supports we sported during last week’s adventure.

Today, we skipped buying bait; unsure when our next fishing outing will be. According to the fishing guides, the optimal time to fish is after a day of rain followed by sunshine. Apparently, fish activity peaks under these conditions, increasing our chances of a successful catch.

Our focus was on acquiring compact and portable gear for our fishing expeditions. Everything must fit snugly into my adventure pack and onto my belt, ensuring a hassle-free trek up the river for hours on end.

Even the fishing scissors are petite, perfect for precise cutting and gutting of our catch. And of course, the portable BBQ must be lightweight and easy to carry. Let’s not forget to pack drinks, charcoal, and other snacks just in case our fishing luck runs dry.

Most importantly, any small or young fish we reel in will be promptly released back into the river โ€“ a commitment to preserving the ecosystem.
