Just two days ago, we wrapped up our nature bait fishing adventure in Shirotoricho Hokijima, guided by locals who insisted we couldn’t leave without visiting the nearby Amidaga Falls.

Little did I anticipate the sheer magnificence that awaited me at Amidaga Falls.

I was left speechless, utterly captivated by the sheer beauty of the main waterfall. Words failed me as I stood in awe of its majestic presence. In a moment of serendipity, I managed to capture the magic on camera. The light cascading from the top seemed almost divine, as if nature itself was putting on a show just for us. You have to see it to believe it – check out the video here.

Upon returning home, our curiosity led us to delve deeper into the history of Amidaga Falls. That’s when we stumbled upon a fascinating tidbit – the renowned artist Katsushika Hokusai had immortalized the falls in one of his paintings, which I’m sharing with you below.

It’s funny how life works sometimes. Until recently, I knew very little about Hokusai, but that all changed when a friend introduced me to his work. My “aha” moment came when I laid eyes on his masterpiece, the world-famous “Great Wave off Kanagawa.”
