Believe it or not, but I still immerse myself in techno music.
My love for techno, especially the minimal kind, runs deep.
During my teenage years in Switzerland, I was drawn to 80s music. From the late 80s to the 90s, I delved into rap music and even breakdanced.
Gradually, my musical tastes shifted from rap to techno, and it has remained a constant passion for me.
In the Netherlands, I had the privilege of attending numerous festivals featuring the world’s best techno DJs. Those were the days filled with boundless positive energy!
Although my festival days are behind me, techno music still fills my days.
I often indulge when my wife is not around, using my beloved AKG K371 headphones tuned to Harman Target, paired with an iFi Zen DAC headphone amp.
The simple beats and drums transport me to another world, especially when it’s techno from artists like Chris Liebing, Charlotte De Witte, Pig & Dan, Adam Beyer, and many others.
Streaming services like Spotify and Tidal Music have revolutionized music discovery. Gone are the days of browsing CD record shops as I did in the 90s. Now, I can explore a vast array of tracks with just a few taps on my smartphone.
So, why am I sharing all this?
I recently looked up some Japanese techno DJs and started listening to their tracks.
To my pleasant surprise, artists like Ken Ishii, whom I had never encountered before, are creating captivating music that resonates with me.
As I write this, I’m currently listening to Drunken Kong, another Japanese techno DJ who’s piqued my interest.
While I understand that musical tastes vary, if you’re into techno like me, perhaps you’d enjoy exploring these Japanese artists on Spotify or Tidal Music too.
Here’s the list of Japanese techno DJs I’ve discovered and been enjoying:
