As my wife and I map out our goals for the year ahead, we find ourselves facing a delightful challenge: the abundance of possibilities.
We’ve always been advocates of meticulous planning, driven by our specific aspirations spanning travel destinations, anticipated events, planned activities, and desired encounters with people.
Yet, as I reflect on my past achievements, I realize that many of my personal goals have been met, leaving me profoundly fulfilled. Consequently, setting new goals feels increasingly daunting, as the allure of “been there, seen it, done that” lingers.
My focus has shifted towards acquiring new skills, such as gardening and learning Japanese. While these pursuits don’t require elaborate planning, they demand disciplined daily commitment. Attempting too many tasks simultaneously would scatter my focus and energy, leading to subpar results across the board.
Fortunately, my wife introduces couples’ goals that transcend my wildest imaginations, infusing excitement and novelty into my life. For this, I am truly grateful.
