As a newcomer to the world of blogging on Blogger, I’ve encountered some hurdles that have made me question if this platform is the right fit for my needs. Recently, the issue of effectively categorizing my content has become more pressing. The main page has evolved into a sprawling thread, making it impossible for Google to index my blog for search engine visibility.

It’s perplexing that my Blogger page, a product of Google, seems to struggle with search engine discoverability. As I reflect on my blogging journey, I’ve begun sharing daily stories on Instagram. However, the thought of solely relying on Instagram is a significant drawback for me.

In my quest for a more efficient and user-friendly platform, I’ve explored various alternatives. The recommendations often point toward well-known names like WordPress, Wix, and Weebly.

While I’m not certain about the direction I’ll take, the limitations of Blogger are becoming more noticeable. I am contemplating a move to an alternative platform where I can easily create categorized web pages that Google can readily index.

If you have any suggestions or experiences with alternative platforms, I’d greatly appreciate your insights.

I'm using Wix, but since I'm also still very new on this journey and haven't been able to spend much time on on how to raise visibility (or in fact finding out how effective my site currently is), I don't actually have any suggestions at the moment. I guess we're in the same boat…

Dangge Rolf, appreciate the comment.I am looking further into getting my blog more visible on the internet, without switching to another platform. There is always a way, I just haven't found it yet. :)By the way, I googled the keywords “Life of a Swiss in Japan” and guess what? Your blog is popping up in the search results. That probably also means your web pages are indexed by Google.Come to think of it…through a Google search, using similar keywords, is how I found your blog. :)So I guess your blog's visibility on the internet should be good.

This blog is for thoughtful adults who are starting again โ€” in learning, creativity, or life โ€” and want to grow steadily without noise or pressure.

Here youโ€™ll find daily reflections and practical guides shaped by lived experience. The focus is on learning through doing: building consistency, adapting to change, and finding clarity in everyday practice.

The stories and guides here come from real processes โ€” creative experiments, hands-on projects, life in rural Japan, working with nature, and learning new skills step by step. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is polished for performance. The aim is steady progress, honest reflection, and practical insight you can actually use.

If youโ€™re curious about life in Japan, learning new skills at your own pace, or finding a calmer, more intentional way forward, youโ€™re in the right place.
