Before we dive into this review, I want to make it clear that I’m not getting paid for writing this review. I decided to jot down my impressions and observations because it was my first time staying at a 5-star hotel in Japan. When my wife and I visited, we took some pictures – nothing professional, just some snaps we shared with our family first. The aim of this review is simple: to share my impressions so you can decide if booking a stay at Fuji Speedway Hotel is your jam. My wife and I stayed there for one night on January 2, 2024, all in to get up close to Mount Fuji and to make day trips to nearby locations for our New Year celebration. No fancy racing stuff in this review; we didn’t pick the place for that – just wanted a luxurious stay with a killer view.

With this out of the way, let’s hop right into my review.

I. Introduction

   A. Overview of the stay

      Nestled against the iconic Fuji Speedway, the Fuji Speedway Hotel promises a harmonious blend of luxury and awe-inspiring views of Mount Fuji, offering guests an extraordinary experience that transcends the ordinary.

      The first glimpse of the sleek, modern architecture coupled with the majestic presence of Mount Fuji in the background sets the stage for a truly remarkable stay.

II. Accommodations

   A. Room quality and cleanliness

      1. Spacious and well-designed

         The Fuji View room exudes contemporary elegance with sweeping panoramic views of Mount Fuji, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

      2. Immaculate cleanliness

         Housekeeping maintained impeccable standards, ensuring a spotless environment that complemented the pristine beauty visible through the windows. We couldn’t find a single dirty spot.

   B. Bed and bedding

      1. Comfortable mattress and pillows

         The plush bed, coupled with a selection of pillows, provided a cocoon of comfort.

      2. High-quality linens

         Luxurious linens added a touch of sophistication, enhancing the overall sense of indulgence.

III. Amenities

   A. Bathroom facilities

      1. Luxurious toiletries

         The well-appointed bathroom featured premium toiletries, creating a luxurious atmosphere.

      2. Modern fixtures and design

         Sleek, contemporary fixtures and a thoughtful design added to the overall aesthetic appeal.

         Cutting-edge technology, including smart controls (lighting, curtains, smart tv), allowed us to tailor our environment right from the bed.

      2. High-speed Wi-Fi

         The fast and reliable Wi-Fi facilitated seamless connectivity (no wifi password required, easy and fast access for all Wi-Fi enabled devices), offering an opportunity to share the views with friends and family.

   C. Mini-bar and snacks

      1. Well-stocked with premium options

         The thoughtfully curated mini-bar provided a selection of high-quality snacks and beverages, inviting us to savor the culinary delights.

      2. Complimentary or reasonably priced

         While not entirely complimentary, the prices were reasonable, considering the premium offerings and the unparalleled views of Mount Fuji.

IV. Dining Experience

   A. Breakfast

      1. Variety and quality of options

         The breakfast spread, enjoyed against the backdrop of Mount Fuji, featured a diverse array of culinary delights, creating a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

      2. Service efficiency

         The attentive staff ensured a seamless dining experience, with service efficient and considerate, repeatedly offering and serving hot coffee and fresh juices. Also offering us to take pictures with our smartphones while enjoying our breakfast. The breakfast buffet offered an exquisite amount of choices, both international as well as traditional Japanese breakfast.

   B. On-site restaurants

      1. Culinary diversity

         The on-site restaurants showcased a Japanese and Italian cuisine, allowing guests to savor exquisite dishes. Admittedly though, the burger with fries you see below, slipped somehow on to the lunch course menu of the Italian restaurant. It was well made and delicious nonetheless.

      2. Ambiance and service

         The combination of sophisticated ambiance and attentive service created a delightful dining experience, elevating meals to a memorable event against the backdrop of Japan’s iconic peak.

V. Service and Staff

   A. Reception and check-in

      1. Warm welcome and efficiency

         The staff’s warm welcome and efficient check-in process set a positive tone for the entire stay, inviting guests to relax and immerse in the hotel lounge area upon arrival while sipping on a welcoming matcha tea.

      2. Staff attentiveness to requests

         Throughout our stay, the staff demonstrated a keen attentiveness to our needs, ensuring a personalized experience. This was clearly demonstrated when we requested local sightseeing information.

   B. Housekeeping

      1. Timely and discreet service

         Although not needed for our one night stay, we noticed that housekeeping services were discreetly and timely carried out in other hotel rooms, with doors closed and the housekeeping sign on the door handle.

      2. Attention to details

         The meticulous attention to detail, from the arrangement of amenities to the immaculate cleaning didn’t go unnoticed.

   C. Concierge

      1. Assistance with reservations and recommendations

         The concierge was knowledgeable and provided excellent assistance with restaurant reservations and local recommendations, ensuring that every guest could make the most of their stay.

      2. Knowledgeable and helpful staff

         Staff members not only catered to the needs of racing enthusiasts but also shared insights into the best vantage points to marvel at Mount Fuji and Fuji Speedway, enhancing the overall experience.

VI. Recreational Facilities

   A. Pool and spa

   As our priorities were on sightseeing, we didn’t have the time to use the spa facilities or the pool. However, judging by the website information we assume that the recreational facilities are of top-notch quality.

   B. Fitness center

Although the fitness center was open for 24 hours, we didn’t plan on going to the gym. Again, judging by the website information, the gym facilities and services looked very professional and well managed.

VII. Overall Atmosphere

   A. Interior design and aesthetics

      While the overall cost was higher than average, the unique combination of luxury, motorsport experience, and unparalleled views of Mount Fuji justified the investment, offering a special lifetime experience.

      There were no unexpected fees or hidden costs; the pricing transparency was appreciated, allowing guests to fully embrace the value of the extraordinary views and luxurious offerings.
