Your personal financial statement holds more weight than you might think. While governments struggle to keep their financial statements in check, I find solace in the fact that I have no control over their finances. They can keep printing money, and I can keep focusing on what matters most.

Enter any company’s financial statement, and you’ll gauge its financial health. This insight is crucial, especially when considering investments like buying stocks. For the companies I hold stocks in, their financial statements are paramount. Yet, I acknowledge the lack of control over their finances. What matters is their current success and the promise of a bright future to stay invested.
Surprisingly, seven years ago, financial statements were a foreign language to me. However, mastering the art of creating a personal financial statement changed the game. I now believe it’s the most crucial statement one can have. After all, I control my incomes, and I control my expenses.
It baffles me that this essential financial knowledge isn’t part of our early education. My wife and I have our personal financial statements, a monthly ritual that isn’t always fun but is the foundation for a stable financial future.
Nothing is left undiscussed, nothing is left to chance or gut feeling. Personal financial statements make us rational about incomes and expenses, making us smarter as we grow toward our financial goals together.
It’s easy to overlook and forget our financial behavior. Regularly reviewing our financial situation keeps us sharp and opens our eyes. I wonder how many married couples regularly assess their financial situation.
Financial issues are a leading cause of marital strain and divorce, making it vital for couples to address and manage their financial health together.
