Persimmons

Grateful for the generosity of my mother-in-law’s family, who run a fruit store. Today, we received a batch of exquisite fruits, and I feel truly blessed.

Persimmons have become a cherished delight for me, especially since my first visit to Japan. Whether enjoyed dried during winter or freshly available now, their unique texture, reminiscent of pears and apples, captivates me. The color, akin to a carrot, and the mild sweetness make them incomparable to any other fruit.

While persimmons are more common in Japan, Korea, and China, I’ve noticed occasional sightings in Turkish shops in the Netherlands. Despite never trying them from the Turkish shops, I savor them here in Japan.
